Raimo joined Nextcon full-time in August as ICT Product Owner on behalf of Traficom. He is a long-standing multi-tasker who found his way into the IT industry through a hobby in game programming.
Raimo has worked on both the client and supplier side and over the years has become familiar with the pension industry, public administration, the steel industry, the retail sector and the media.
We asked Raimo about career development, expectations and what motivates him at work.
A passion for game programming led to the IT sector
Raimo says that his passion for programming was sparked by the Commodore 64 and Mikrobit game listings.
– However, my interest in game programming waned quite quickly and the last lines of code I’ve done were about 20 years ago. Software development, quality and organisational performance development have long been in my life, and especially people management,” Raimo says, and continues,
– As a multi-tasker, I have played many roles during my career. if I had to choose my favourite role, I would be a coach. The current ICT PO role is quite optimal for me at the moment.
We are always looking for experts to join our team!
Would you be interested in a job in the IT sector with diverse projects and interesting customers? If yes, you might be the person we are looking for. See our vacancies or submit an open application!
“What motivates me at work is working together and succeeding”
Raimo says that what motivates him in his work is working together as a team, being successful and having a satisfied customer.
– I don’t believe so much in big changes, but in continuous development and improvement.
At Nextcon, we invest in the development of our experts. We offer a wide range of training opportunities, sparring and channels to develop and showcase your skills. Nextcon experts have a genuine desire to continuously grow and develop as individuals and as a team.
Continuous evolution more relevant than big changes
Raimo is looking forward to interesting clients and professional development at Nextcon.
– What I look forward to most are challenges, i.e. opportunities to get involved in interesting customer projects and developing my own skills, e.g. through mutual sparring with colleagues.
In his free time, Raimo likes to exercise and relax in nature.
– Nature is a powerful stress reliever and a good counterbalance to the hustle and bustle of the indoors.
Nextcon’s corporate culture
At Nextcon, consultants are encouraged to innovate, propose and try new things. We are definitely in favour of a culture of experimentation. Our culture is very much built on autonomous teams. The teams and their coaches have a very wide scope to decide on issues related to the working environment and well-being of team members, such as training, equipment and work ergonomics.
Especially in this era of teleworking, it is important that consultants have a good ergonomic framework to work from home. We maintain a sense of community through regular meetings, theme nights, in-house training and, during the covid period, we have continued to meet online.
