Nextcon as supplier of testing services for DigiFinland

DigiFinland Oy selected Nextcon Finland Oy as its testing services partner in the 2020 tender. Nextcon’s experts were part of a larger testing team and were responsible for the acceptance testing of the Omaolo service developed by DigiFinland.

DigiFinland develops and produces accessible, high-quality and desirable public digital services in Finland in cooperation with various actors. DigiFinland is involved in promoting the digital development of public administration and the social and health sector, as well as the reform of the information system of the emergency services. Quality, safety, customer orientation and collaboration are at the heart of the company’s activities.

When it comes to healthcare and services classified as medical devices, testing is of great importance for quality and safety. In addition to acceptance testing, Nextcon and DigiFinland developed and implemented test automation as part of quality assurance. Tiina Nikmo, DigiFinland’s testing manager, says that quality drives DigiFinland’s operations and product development.

– We want to provide our customers with quality products that work the way they expect. Acceptance testing is an important part of quality assurance and product development.

The accelerating Covid situation ensured a dynamic start to the partnership

The cooperation started in July 2020 with a bang, and Nextcon’s lead testing consultant Markku Kestikievari and DigiFinland’s testing manager Tiina Nikmo say that despite the rush, the start was a great success.

A very successful transfer of information from the previous supplier also had a positive impact on a very successful change of supplier.

Nextcon's experts adapted to the challenging situation

Tiina Nikmo says that the operating environment has been challenging throughout the corona period. However, Nextcon’s testing experts found the ability to adapt to the situation and be flexible when needed.

– The environment has been challenging for everyone throughout the corona period, with a steady stream of versions being tested. Nextcon’s experts always had the time and flexibility to test with expertise.

Markku Kestikievari says that last autumn was also a very busy one for the journalist. At best, new versions could be produced in as little as two weeks.

– The initial phase of the project was a big effort, but the team still pulled through in every situation. We were able to bring in key additional resources in a very short timeframe to manage all the unexpected and extra testing loads.

Although the project started at a fast pace and continued at a hectic pace, major problems were avoided. Cooperation went smoothly thanks to open and agile communication.

– I had a really good feeling about the cooperation and everything went as expected. There were no problems with the testing service,” says Tiina Nikmo.
